StatSharp Betting Insights

This week’s football card is loaded with familiar teams in spots where the market may still be leaning too heavily on reputation. We’re breaking down StatSharp trends, betting systems, power ratings, simulations and player prop angles across the NFL and college football—including several games where defense, turnovers and recent form could matter more than the name on the jersey.

📒Profitable Betting Angles

Betting System: Turnover Trouble Adds Up
“Bet against a home team after four straight games with a turnover margin of -1 or worse. Since 2017, this system is 74-33 ATS (69.2%), producing +37.7 units with a 32.0% ROI.”
Teams that consistently lose the turnover battle usually have a hard time covering the spread—even when they get the benefit of playing at home. Giving away extra possessions forces an offense to overcome shorter fields, lost scoring chances and game scripts that can quickly become much harder to control.
The historical results are strong. Home teams coming off four consecutive games with a turnover margin of -1 or worse have gone just 33-74 ATS since 2017. The opposing side has covered 69.2% of the time, and 46 of those 107 covers came by at least seven points.
Florida State fits the negative side this week, putting Clemson in the favorable position. The system is already 6-2 in 2026, and the logic behind it is straightforward: home field can help with crowd energy and familiarity, but it does very little to offset repeated possession losses. Until Florida State proves it can protect the football more consistently, the market may still be asking too much of the Seminoles.
Indianapolis Colts logo
Daniel Jones Missing the Mark
“Daniel Jones is 7-0 to the Under on his passing-touchdown prop this season, hitting at 100% with an average price of -125 and producing +8.6 units.”
The market has consistently asked Daniel Jones for more touchdown production than he has delivered. Through seven qualifying games, the Indianapolis quarterback has thrown only four touchdown passes and has stayed Under his passing-TD prop every time.
Jones has averaged just 0.6 passing touchdowns per game against an average posted number of 1.2. That half-touchdown gap may not sound enormous, but in a market commonly priced around 1.5 or shaded heavily toward one side, it is significant. Bettors backing the Under have gone a perfect 7-0, generating a +98.6% ROI.
The concern now is that Indianapolis appears to be moving in the opposite direction of an offense likely to suddenly produce more passing scores. With the Colts shedding veteran pieces from the roster, Jones could have even less support around him as the season progresses. Jacksonville is next, and until the passing-touchdown market fully reprices his current production level, Jones Under remains one of the clearest recurring prop patterns on the Indianapolis board.
Maryland Terrapins logo
Maryland’s Slide Is Getting Hard to Ignore
“Bet against Maryland after three straight conference losses, and after three or more consecutive straight-up losses. Since 2024, the Terrapins are 0-8 ATS in the first spot and 1-8 ATS in the second.”
Maryland isn’t just losing right now — the Terrapins have repeatedly failed to respond once a skid sets in. They enter this matchup with Illinois on a five-game losing streak, and recent history suggests prolonged slides have tended to snowball rather than produce a meaningful bounce-back.
After three straight losses to conference opponents, Maryland is 0-8 ATS since 2024, losing those games by an average score of 38.4-16.8 despite catching an average of 10.1 points. The broader version tells nearly the same story: after three or more consecutive straight-up losses, the Terps are just 1-8 ATS, with opponents outscoring them 39.1-16.7.
Those numbers point to something more serious than a few bad breaks. Once Maryland has fallen into this type of stretch, the market has continued to overestimate its ability to stabilize, even after spreads have adjusted into double-digit underdog territory. Illinois catches the Terrapins in exactly that kind of spot Saturday, with Maryland still searching for a way to stop a five-game free fall.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers logo
Tampa Bay Has Struggled to Stack Success
“Bet against Todd Bowles at home after a win by 10 or more points. As Tampa Bay’s head coach, Bowles is just 1-7 ATS in this spot, producing -6.7 units with a -76.1% ROI.”
Tampa Bay has had a hard time carrying momentum from one convincing win into the next game. Under Todd Bowles, the Buccaneers have repeatedly followed strong double-digit victories with much flatter home performances, suggesting the market may be giving too much weight to what it just saw.
The numbers are hard to ignore. In these qualifying games, Tampa Bay has averaged only 19.1 points while allowing 22.8, despite being priced almost exactly around pick’em on average. That profile points to a team that has often been re-priced upward after an impressive result without sustaining the same level of performance. Atlanta visits this week with the Buccaneers coming off another double-digit win, putting Tampa Bay back into a spot where Bowles has gone just 1-7 ATS.
Jacksonville Jaguars logo
Jacksonville Has Owned This Home Spot
“Bet on Jacksonville at home against AFC opponents. Since the 2025 season, the Jaguars are 8-1 ATS (88.9%) in this spot, producing +6.9 units with a 69.7% ROI.”
Jacksonville has been remarkably dependable when familiar AFC opponents come to town. The Jaguars have covered eight of nine qualifying home games since the start of last season, and the results suggest this has been much more than a sequence of fortunate numbers.
Jacksonville has outscored those conference opponents by an average of 33.4-14.8 while laying an average of just 3.6 points. That is nearly a 19-point average winning margin against a market price closer to a field goal. In other words, bookmakers have repeatedly priced these games as reasonably competitive while Jacksonville has often turned them into something else entirely. Indianapolis visits Sunday in another AFC matchup, putting the Jaguars back into one of their most profitable recent home situations.
Kansas City Chiefs logo
Kansas City Games Have Changed
“Bet Under in Kansas City games when the total is between 35.5 and 42 points. Since the 2024 season, the Under is 11-0 in this range, producing +11.0 units with a 90.9% ROI.”
The Chiefs are still associated with Patrick Mahomes and explosive offense, but their betting profile has changed. When Kansas City games are lined with relatively modest totals, they have consistently played even lower than the market expects. These are no longer automatic shootout environments.
Since 2024, Kansas City games with totals between 35.5 and 42 have gone a perfect 11-0 to the Under. The average closing total was 40.4, yet those games produced an average combined score of only 31.6 points, with Kansas City averaging 14.5 and opponents 17.1.
That points to a broader shift in how the Chiefs are winning. Kansas City has increasingly leaned on defense, field position and lower-variance game scripts rather than simply trying to outscore opponents. Sunday’s matchup with Denver falls squarely into that range, and with a posted total of 40.5, the market is again asking whether the old image of the Chiefs as a shootout team is still influencing the price more than their recent results justify.

🏈⭑Simulation & Ratings Spotlight

  • Key Weekend Matchups

StatSharp has run our Power Rating and Simulation models for some of this weekend’s biggest matchups. Below are the projected scores, stats, betting lines, and edges our models highlight for key games on the slate.

Arizona at Texas Tech
Saturday · 12:00 PM · Big 12
Projection: Arizona 22 · Texas Tech 21
Power Ratings (Off/Def): Arizona 43/22 · Texas Tech 42/20
Spread: Texas Tech -3.5
Cover Probability: Arizona 64.4% · Texas Tech 35.6%
ATS Edge: Arizona +3.5 (+4.5)
Money Line: Arizona +150 · Texas Tech -180
Win Probability: Arizona 53.5% · Texas Tech 46.5%
ML Edge: Arizona +13.5%
Total: 54.5
Over/Under Probability: Over 32.7% · Under 67.3%
O/U Edge: Under 54.5 (+11.5)
Team Totals:
Arizona 26.5 · Under 63.8% (+4.5)
Texas Tech 30.5 · Under 75.7% (+9.5)
Game Read:
The betting market is pricing Texas Tech as the clear favorite and expecting a relatively high-scoring Big 12 game, but the StatSharp ratings disagree on both fronts. Arizona is projected to win outright, 22-21, despite catching 3.5 points, giving the Wildcats a 64.4% cover probability and a meaningful money-line value signal at +150.

The larger model disagreement may actually be with the total. StatSharp projects only 43 combined points against a market total of 54.5, producing an 11.5-point edge toward the Under. The team-total numbers reinforce that read, especially on Texas Tech, where the Red Raiders are projected for only 21 points against a posted total of 30.5.

Net result: Under 54.5 is the strongest model position, with a 67.3% Under probability and one of the larger total discrepancies on the board. Arizona +3.5 is the preferred side, while the +150 money line is also attractive with StatSharp assigning the Wildcats a 53.5% chance to win outright. The market is pricing Texas Tech like the better team in a game expected to reach the mid-50s; the model sees something much closer to a low-scoring toss-up.
Wisconsin at Iowa
Saturday · 12:00 PM · Big Ten
Projection: Wisconsin 17 · Iowa 16
Power Ratings (Off/Def): Wisconsin 37/24 · Iowa 39/19
Spread: Iowa -2.5
Cover Probability: Wisconsin 64.6% · Iowa 35.4%
ATS Edge: Wisconsin +2.5 (+3.5)
Money Line: Wisconsin +114 · Iowa -135
Win Probability: Wisconsin 54.6% · Iowa 45.4%
ML Edge: Wisconsin +7.9%
Total: 36.5
Over/Under Probability: Over 42.4% · Under 57.6%
O/U Edge: Under 36.5 (+3.5)
Team Totals:
Wisconsin 16.5 · Over 52.3% (+0.5)
Iowa 19.5 · Under 64.6% (+3.5)
Game Read:
This looks exactly like the kind of Wisconsin-Iowa game bettors have come to expect: physical, low scoring and decided by a possession. The market makes Iowa a small home favorite, but the StatSharp ratings actually give Wisconsin the narrow 17-16 win. Quarterback Colton Joseph gives the Badgers a dual-threat element, with Abu Sama III in the backfield and Tyrell Henry providing a veteran target on the perimeter.

The bigger challenge comes against an Iowa defense that has been extremely difficult to run on. Linebacker Cam Buffington has been at the center of that unit, while defensive back Zach Lutmer has been one of the Hawkeyes' most active tacklers. That defensive strength is a major reason the model expects Wisconsin to score only 17—but Iowa's own offensive uncertainty keeps the Hawkeyes from separating. Hank Brown and Jeremy Hecklinski have both seen meaningful quarterback work recently, and the ratings still project Iowa for only 16 points.

Net result: Wisconsin +2.5 is the preferred side, with a 64.6% cover probability and the Badgers actually favored to win outright 54.6% of the time. The +114 money line offers additional value, while Under 36.5 is the preferred total. Iowa's team total Under 19.5 also stands out at 64.6%. This is essentially a pricing disagreement on a very tight game: the market asks Iowa to win by a field goal, while StatSharp makes Wisconsin slightly more likely to win the game.
Florida vs. Georgia
Saturday · 3:30 PM · SEC · Atlanta
Simulation Projection: Georgia 37 · Florida 22
Projected Total: 59 points
Spread: Georgia -11.5
Projected Margin: Georgia by 15
ATS Edge: Georgia -11.5 (+2.5)
Total: 56.5
Projected Total: 59
O/U Edge: Over 56.5 (+2.1)
1st Half: Georgia -6.5 · Total 28.5
1st-Half Projection: Georgia 20 · Florida 11
1H Edges: Georgia -6.5 (+2.5) · Over 28.5 (+2.5)
Rushing: Florida 38-120 (3.2 YPR) · Georgia 32-150 (4.7 YPR)
Passing: Florida 33-238 (7.2 YPA) · Georgia 28-289 (10.3 YPA)
Total Offense: Florida 359 yards · Georgia 439 yards
Yards Per Play: Florida 5.0 · Georgia 7.4
Game Read:
The simulations expect Georgia’s offensive efficiency to be the difference in this rivalry matchup. Gunner Stockton has been one of the nation’s most efficient passers, and the model projects the Bulldogs to average a huge 10.3 yards per pass attempt while producing 439 total yards. Georgia is also expected to have the better rushing day, generating 150 yards at 4.7 per carry.

Florida’s path to staying inside the number likely runs through Jadan Baugh. The Gators need enough success on the ground to keep Georgia from dictating the game, but the simulation projects Florida for only 3.2 yards per rush. The quarterback situation adds another variable, with Aaron Philo and Tramell Jones Jr. both in the mix. If Florida falls behind early and is forced into a pass-heavy script, the Bulldogs’ ability to create explosive plays could make it difficult for the Gators to keep pace.

Florida does have defensive playmakers capable of disrupting that script, including LJ McCray, but the simulations still see Georgia generating far more efficiency possession by possession. The 7.4-to-5.0 yards-per-play gap is substantial and helps explain why the projected margin stretches beyond two touchdowns.

Net result: Georgia -11.5 is the preferred side, with the simulations projecting a 37-22 Bulldogs victory. The first-half model also favors Georgia -6.5, while the full-game and first-half totals both lean Over. The clearest message from the simulation is efficiency: Georgia is expected to create considerably more explosive offense, especially through the air.
Kansas City at Denver
Sunday · 4:25 PM · AFC West Showdown
Projection: Kansas City 18 · Denver 18
Power Ratings (Off/Def): Kansas City 27/10 · Denver 27/8
Spread: Kansas City -1.5
Cover Probability: Denver 55.7% · Kansas City 44.3%
ATS Edge: Denver +1.5 (+1.5)
Money Line: Kansas City -118 · Denver -102
Win Probability: Kansas City 50.0% · Denver 50.0%
ML Edge: No meaningful edge
Total: 40.5
Over/Under Probability: Over 41.7% · Under 58.3%
O/U Edge: Under 40.5 (+4.5)
Team Totals:
Kansas City 20.5 · Under 59.2% (+2.5)
Denver 20.5 · Under 59.2% (+2.5)
Game Read:
This AFC West matchup is being priced almost like a coin flip, and the StatSharp ratings agree. Kansas City and Denver carry identical 27 offensive ratings, while the Broncos own a slight defensive advantage, 8 to 10. That leaves the model dead even at 18-18 and makes every point of spread value important.

Kansas City still has Patrick Mahomes directing an offense with Travis Kelce, Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Kenneth Walker, but Denver is built to make that group earn everything. Pat Surtain II gives the Broncos an elite matchup piece on the perimeter, while Nik Bonitto provides the kind of edge pressure capable of disrupting Mahomes before deeper routes can develop. On the other side, Bo Nix has Jaylen Waddle and Courtland Sutton to attack Kansas City's secondary, with J.K. Dobbins giving Denver another way to keep the game on schedule.

The more significant disagreement with the betting market comes on the total. StatSharp projects only 36 combined points against a posted 40.5, producing a 58.3% probability to the Under. Both team totals also lean Under 20.5, which reinforces the same basic script: two comparable offenses facing defenses capable of controlling long stretches of the game.

Net result: Under 40.5 is the strongest model position, carrying a 4.5-point edge. Denver +1.5 is the preferred side, although the edge is modest, while the money line is essentially fairly priced with each team sitting at a 50% win probability. The model sees less of a shootout between Mahomes and Nix and more of a tight, defense-driven divisional game where one possession—or one mistake—could decide it.
